DeKalb Sports Personality highlighted Druid Hills standouts Tommy Southard and David Middour following the Red Devils’ remarkable 9-1 season in 1973.

The feature praised the explosive Druid Hills backfield, calling it one of the quickest and most versatile in the state regardless of classification. Southard, a senior halfback, accounted for 1,405 total yards during the season, rushing for 1,062 yards while adding 343 receiving yards.

Quarterback David Middour totaled 1,160 yards offensively, including 998 passing yards while completing 60 of 107 attempts for a 56 percent completion rate and 18 touchdowns.

Together, the pair helped lead the Red Devils to 3,750 offensive yards and 335 points during one of the most successful seasons in Druid Hills football history.
